Enlist to support and defend?

Over 30 years ago, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  It was for many reasons.  The primary one was I thought our freedom was worth defending from communism.  I thought the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were two of the greatest documents ever written by man.  Our forefathers both established a government and limited its power, ensure freedom of the citizens.

We are engaged in a war in Iraq.  Before our last president engaged in a new strategy in an attempt to turn the tide and win, at least two leaders of congress, now the majority leaders of both the house and the senate, declared the war lost.  They told our enemies we had lost the war, at the same time more troops were being dedicated to the effort.  I thought and think that was an act of treason.

Within the last week, those same traitors raped democracy by passing legislation as theives in the night without giving the opposition in congress, or the people of this country the opportunity to learn the contents before it is sent to the president for his signature.

Would I enlist again?  No.  I could not support a corrupt government that will commit a fraud on the people.  Will I support and defend the constitution?  Yes.  The second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence reserves the right of the people to "alter or abolish it (the government), and to institute a new government" when any form of government becomes destructive to the rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.  I do not believe it is yet time to abolish this government.  I do believe it is time to take our government back from the theives who are stealing it.
